Karachi, August 24, 2023: A shocking news was reported from Karachi, where a K-Electric (KE) consumer received an electricity bill exceeding Rs 1500 for a consumption of merely 2 units.
According to the current power tariff, which values two units at no more than Rs 33, the bill’s inflated charges have ignited a storm of discontent.
The charges have been attributed to various adjustments, including fuel adjustment charges, uniform adjustment, quarterly adjustment, and a four-month adjustment, while these factors have seemingly contributed to the soaring bills.
The residents and the business community in the city are vehemently refusing to pay the exorbitant KE bills.
Frustrated citizens have queued outside K-Electric offices, seeking respite in the form of monthly installment plans to ease the financial burden caused by these unexpectedly high bills.
