Corps Commander XI win against Commissioner XI

Karachi, June 3, 2019: In a Festival Floodlit T20 Cricket match played at the National Stadium Karachi on Saturday night Corps Commander XI won against Commissioner XI by 3 wickets. Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association and Commissioner Karachi Office organized the Match.

The Captain of Corps Commander XI Brig Abdul Sami won the toss and put Captain Commissioner XI Iftikhar Ali Shallwani into bat. Commissioner XI scored 142 for loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Director IB Omar Shahid Hamid opening the innings scored an excellent knock of 37 runs in only 21 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. Arif Habib scored 24 runs in 39 balls with 2 fours. Syed Pir Muhammad Shah scored 17 runs. From the Corps Commander XI, Col Gul Zareen took wickets for 37 runs and Major Mannan took 2 wickets for 16 runs. Major Babar, Col Nawaz and Lt Col Aftab took 1 wicket each for 3, 10 and 27 runs respectively.

Batting second Corps Commander XI reached the winning target in the last over. Opener Col Zareen Gul scored a brilliant knock of 57 runs in 43 balls with 9 fours. Major Junaid Khaliq scored 27 runs and Major Babar 14 runs. DG Rangers Maj Gen Omar Ahmed Bukhari scored 7 runs. For the Commissioner XI SSP Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, D.C. East Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and Zahid Hussain Memon took 2 wickets each for 2, 18 and 24 runs respectively.

At the end of the match prize distribution ceremony was held. DG Rangers Maj Gen Omar Ahmed Bukhari was the Chief Guest. Fawad Ijaz Khan Chairman Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association and Nadeem Omar President KCCA were also present. Winning Cup was jointly received by Brig Abdul Sami and Lt Col Nazim Hanif and runner up Cup by Iftikhar Ali Shallwani. Col Zareen Gul was declared Man of the Match, Omar Shahid Hamid Best Batsman and Major Abdul Mannan Best Bowler.
