Illegal setup of edible oil making in Malir closed down

Karachi, December 7, 2019: On the directives of Advisor to CM Sindh on Law, Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Barrister Murtuza Wahab, a team of Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) closed down an illegal edible oil production setup where oil was being extracted from animal bones in huge amount in open area of the jurisdiction of Sukhan Police Station of District Malir.

At the time of raid by a SEPA team headed by Deputy Director Waris Gabol, oil was being poured in an oil tanker having the storage capacity of 2000-3000 gallons to supply it in the city.

Owing to burning of un-recommended stuff as fuel, huge smoke was emitting from burning process causing air pollution in the surrounding area where people were suffering from various respiratory and lungs related diseases.

No permission from any authority was available with the setup to run the process of oil extracting from animal bones.

SEPA team on the spot got the oil production activity stopped with the help of local police.
