JAC condemns attack on Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi

Karachi, July 01, 2020: Joint Action Committee (JAC), a group of civil society organizations and trade unions, on Wednesday vehemently condemned the terrorists’ attack on the key equity market of the country, Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday, killing and injuring police and private guards.

In a joint statement Karamat Ali, Executive Director, Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER); Mahnaz Rahman, Resident Director, Aurat Foundation; Asad Iqbal Butt, Vice Chairman, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan; Muhammad Ali Shah, Chairman, Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF); Zahid Farooq, Urban Resource Centre, Habibuddin Junaidi, Peoples Labour Bureau and Liaqat Sahi, Democratic Workers Union of State Bank of Pakistan, and others appreciated the rapid action by the Sindh Police personnel as well as private security guards which killed all four terrorists.

They expressed grief sorrow and condolences with the families of deceased Police personnel and private guards.

They said that it is a matter of concern that terrorists entered into the building of the PSX, but they were challenged by the law enforcement agencies, thus the operation was completed within few minutes.

Police and law enforcement agencies deserve appreciations for this rapid operation. They demanded the government to provide security to the important institutions in the country to save human lives. Also they called for provision of cash support to the deceased and injured personnel.
