KATI urges to revamp infrastructure in Karachi

Karachi, August 19, 2019: President Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Danish Khan, Senior Vice President Faraz-ur-Rehman and Vice President Maheen Salman has urged the Federal and Provincial government to invest heavily in the infrastructure of Karachi.

In a joint statement office-bearer of the association expressed their concern over the aftermath of recent rainfall in the city.

President KATI Danish Khan said that during the recent rain spell fragilities and vulnerabilities of Karachi’s infrastructure had been exposed drastically. 

He said that the sewerage and drainage system of the city has totally collapsed during the rainfall; business activities and common life heavily struck due to the flawed infrastructure of the city.

He said that rainfall is well expected in as climate change can reshape the rain cycle. Danish Khan said that keeping these changes it is an urgent need to entirely revamp the sewerage and drainage system of Karachi.

He also expressed grief over life loses during recent rainfall and urged to secure power supply system and to make a more effective emergency response in the city.


Danish Khan further said that since along KATI was identifying of dumping of garbage in Malir River, especially the riverbed area adjacent to Korangi Industrial Area and other populated localities. 

President KATI Danish Khan demanded that Federal, Provincial governments and administration of Karachi should sit together to sort a comprehensive strategy to build and reform the infrastructure of Karachi which can sustain heavy rainfall and bear any such calamity.
