Pakistan Stock Exchange closes on a positive note

Karachi, October 17, 2019: Pakistan equities closed Wednesday on a positive note with benchmark KSE100 Index gaining 198 points, closing at 34,281 levels, up 0.6 percent.

Mixed sentiment was seen in E&Ps where POL (-1.0 percent) closed in the red, and OGDC (+1.5 percent) and PPL (+2.4 percent) closed in the green zone.

In Financials, UBL (-0.9 percent) closed in the red trajectory, whereas HBL (+0.6 percent) and MCB (+0.4 percent) closed in the green zone. ENGRO (+1.0 percent) and FFC (+1.0 percent) in the fertilizer sector closed positive.

Average daily traded value stood at $31 million, slightly lower by 7 percent and volume stood at 151 million, down 3 percent. Furthermore, major contribution to total market volume came from KEL (0.0 percent), WTL (+4.7 percent), UNITY (-1.0 percent) and LOTCHEM (+1.4 percent). Moving ahead, we expect market to remain choppy until further clarity on the FATF front.
