Petition filed against Careem for controversial billboard

Karachi, March 21, 2019: In past days, Careem, the riding hailing app posted an advertisement on billboards that showed a bride wants to run on her wedding day and will take Careem bike with no worries, which have been made viral on the social media and have become a talk to town in different segments of society.

Meanwhile, Pakistan-based political party deputy media coordinator Rashid Umar advocate and Syed Umer Sohail Shah from Jamaat-e-Islami filed a petition against Careem’s controversial advertisement in Islamabad High Court.

The petition said that such advertisements can create a bad impact on our society and children as it is contrary to our traditions.

The petition said that according to previous court decisions, such advertisement is a big question mark on our values, therefore Court should impose heavy penalty on the careem company on such advertisements.

PTI Government should ban these advertisements while taking its constitutional responsibility and ensure the implementation of existing legal laws of advertising, the petition said.
