PIA establishes maintenance facility at Islamabad

Karachi, July 23, 2019: As part of its Revival Plan PIA has established full fledge Maintenance facility Islamabad where the overhauling of its A320 aircraft will be carried out.

In this regard, PIA Engineering for the first time successfully completed ‘Check A’ on one of its A320 aircraft after completion of 750 flying hours at Islamabad Engineering base. This facility was previously available at the airline’s Karachi. To mark the event a formal but simple ceremony was held at Islamabad.

President & CEO PIA , Air Marshal Arshad Malik in his message while congratulating Chief Techincal Officer PIA, Amir Ali and the engineering team on performing successful ‘Check A’ said that it is a great achievement through which PIA will not only save millions but the convenience of schedule will be enhanced.

He said that he was confident of airline employees who continue to work with the same zeal and enthusiasm, PIA will soon achieve new heights and the results are evident now.

He said that plans are underway to upgrade the engineering facilities at Lahore airport as well which will be completed in the future. CEO PIA also instructed the concerned officials to maintain the deep cleaning of seats and cabins of PIA fleet.

Air Marshal Arshad Malik said that this initiative is part of PIA’s Business Plan and the Engineering set up at Islamabad will facilitate PIA in terms of cost savings as aircraft can now be repaired and maintained at Islamabad as well with the potential to generate additional revenues by way of providing engineering services to other airlines.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Technical Officer PIA, Amir Ali, Islamabad based engineering team and senior officials of PIA and Civil Aviation Authority.
