SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry has championed to build the startup ecosystem

“Startups are transforming our economies and are leading us to the digital economy” Mr. Fayyaz Ismail, Minister of Economic Development Maldives.

Karachi, September 26, 2019: “SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry has championed to build the startup ecosystem and a unique network of entrepreneurs in Maldives.

Which will help these young techies to make their dreams come true”. Hon’ble Fayyaz Ismail, Economic Development Minister said during the opening ceremony of SAARC CCI Boot Camp for Maldivians starts up, in Male, Maldives.

Mr, Ismail while addressing the inaugural session as Chief Guest, appreciated the role of SAARC Chamber in strengthening business environment by nurturing Maldivian Startups. He said his office is always available to SAARC CCI to boost the process of regional integration in South Asia.

He added that startups are contributing to the economic growth of economies in the South Asia region, particularly in India, where starts-up has led to extensive job creation for the next generation of youth workers through their innovative entrepreneurial skills”.

The bootcamp is an initiative of SAARC CCI Startups’ Boot Camps series, which is organized by SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI) in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF).

Ms. Hina Saeed, Secretary General SAARC CCI while welcoming all participants and the mentors said that due to weak eco system for startups, the new business ideas in region faces a number of challenges.  It is crucial time to build stronger links between public and private sector to regulate technology, and share best practices, which can help to boost the startups Eco system in South Asia.

Hon’ble Ms. Neeza Imad, Minister of State for Economic Development, Maldives, Ms. Shaira Saleem, Member of SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC) and Ms. Aiesha Adnan, Co-Founder, Women in Tech, Maldives also graced the event with their presence.

The Boot camp is being attended by the 32 startups entrepreneurs from Maldive which are being mentored by leading startup mentors from India. The event is aimed at enhancing the cross border collaboration and knowledge sharing among the South Asia nations and to enhance the interaction of young emerging entrepreneurs from Maldives.
