Sindh to have 16 new degree colleges, 6 cadet colleges

Karachi, June 17, 2022: Sindh’s College Education Department has initiated various development schemes for the establishment of 16 new degree colleges in the districts of Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Sanghar, Umerkot and three districts of Karachi (Korangi, Malir, and West).

Also, nine new colleges have been completed and made functional in Manjhand, Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Garhi Yaseen, Shikarpur, Islamkot, Tharparkar, and Kashmore with SNE of posts (344 posts).

Moreover, 6 new cadet colleges are being established in the districts of Tharparkar, Dadu, Larkana, Khairpur, Kashmore, and Badin.

It is to be noted that the Sindh government has allocated increased the non-development budget for the College Education Department from Rs. 22.860 billion in the year 2021-22 to Rs. 26.768 billion in the next financial year 2022-23.

In addition to this, the college education department has established digital libraries in 48 colleges and it will establish 10 more such libraries during the next financial year.

The government has introduced the New Sindh Electronic Centralized College admissions Program (SECCP) throughout the province in all 335 colleges. Earlier this program was only operational in Karachi region. In order to promote literary activities in the youth of Sindh and to promote Sindhi language and Sindhi writers, Rs. 120 million have been allocated for Sindhi Adabi Board, Jamshoro for the FY 2022-23.
