Team Pakistan debuts at Global Clean-Tech Business idea competition

Islamabad, November 15, 2019: Team Pakistan made its debut in ClimateLaunchpad, the world’s largest green business ideas competition competing against 53 countries at the final event, held in The Netherlands yesterday. Three clean-tech business ideas were presented at the forum: Geothermal Pakistan, Goats for Water and Taaza Grow.

GeoThermal Pakistan develops solutions to the prevalent costly, inefficient and polluting air conditioners (ACs). Goats for Water is a social enterprise that aims to provide community-led solutions to rural communities’ waterand energy needs by enhancing livelihood.

TaazaGrow is on a mission to provide safe and hygienic food to consumers through development and use of biological fertilizers and pesticides.

Two speakers also represented Pakistan at the International Conference. Mehreen Shoaib, CEO Stimulus was part of a high-level panel discussing development of a clean-tech ecosystem in emerging economies. Hira Wajahat, Pakistan National Lead for ClimateLaunchpadfacilitated a workshop on tools and techniques for implementing large scale programs such as ClimateLaunchpad with limited resources. 

The ClimateLaunchpad Pakistan Team observed tremendous success with the first round of the competition both within Pakistan and globally. Pakistan has been recognized in the international arena for participation of women in the clean-technology space.

The Ministry of Climate Change also recognized the ClimateLaunchpad program and signed up Stimulus, strategic partner of ClimateLaunchpad as one of the influencers for Prime Ministers’ Clean Green Pakistan initiative. Stimulus is an innovative consulting firm that intends to create awareness, symmetry, engagement and impact via the government, foreign missions and most significantly with the private sector to develop a clean technology / renewables eco-system for Pakistan.

Critical partners and stakeholders that have enabled this success for Stimulus – ClimateLaunchpad Pakistan include Lucky Cement, Engro Foundation, Engro Vopak, Shell Tameer, Cargill Agri-Foods Pakistan, Dalda, City FM 89, Funverks, Impact Network PK, Women Engineers Pakistan, Eco-Guard Impactory and Madvertising.
