Visit of Sri Lankan date importers to Sukkur-Pakistan

Karachi, August 5, 2019: The invitation of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Karachi, a three-member delegation of Date Importers from Sri Lanka arrived in Sukkur, Pakistan on 4 August 2019.

After the imposition of 200 percent duties by Indian Government on Pakistan Exports wherein Dry date exports from Pakistan to India suffered badly, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan had held consultative sessions with the date exporters in order to address the concerns of date exporters. 

During the deliberations, it was observed that Pakistan needs to explore an alternate market for the exports of Pakistani dry dates. As a result of the continuous efforts of TDAP for increasing the exports of Pakistan.

TDAP through the Pakistan Mission in Sri Lanka has arranged the visit of date importers from Sri Lanka to Pakistan from 4 to 7 August 2019. The delegation comprises of three major Sri Lankan date importer companies. 

The delegation will visit Sukkur Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Agha QadirdadDate Market Sukkur on 5 August 2019 where B2B meetings with their counterparts are arranged.

Further, the delegation will visit Khairpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry and dates market Khairpur on 6 August 2019 for B2B meetings with date exporters and later on, will visit date factories of Khairpur District.

The delegation will leave back for Sri Lanka 7 August 2019. It is expected that this visit of date importers from Sri Lanka will greatly help in increasing the exports of Pakistani Date.
