Geely Enters Pakistan with Bestway Group, Unveils Three Vehicle Models

Chinese automaker Geely Auto has officially entered Pakistan through a partnership with Bestway Group, introducing three vehicle models and signalling plans for local assembly in the coming months.

The launch ceremony took place at Park View City in Islamabad and was attended by Bestway Group founder Sir M. Anwar Pervez, Group Chairman Lord Zameer Choudrey, senior executives from both companies, industry representatives and members of the media.

Bestway Automotive will serve as Geely’s sole authorised distributor in Pakistan. It will oversee vehicle sales, after-sales support and the brand’s market development. The partnership also includes preparations for local assembly at Bestway’s facility in Karachi.

Geely Introduces Three Models in Pakistan

At the launch, Geely and Bestway introduced three models designed for different customer needs: the EX2, EX5 and Starray EM-R.

The Geely EX2 is a compact, fully electric hatchback designed for urban travel. The EX5 is a fully electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), while the Starray EM-R uses range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) technology. This system combines electric driving with an onboard petrol engine.

The launch marks Bestway Group’s expansion into Pakistan’s automotive sector and brings Geely’s international vehicle range and technology to local consumers.

Irfan Sheikh, Group Managing Director for Non-Banking Businesses at Bestway Group, said the partnership brings together Bestway’s experience in investing in Pakistan and Geely’s expertise in the automotive industry.

He said the introduction of the three models was the first step in the company’s plans to establish Geely as a recognised and trusted automotive brand in Pakistan. He added that the group aims to bring locally assembled Geely vehicles to Pakistani roads within the next few months.

Bestway Targets Local Assembly and Job Creation

Bestway Group said its move into automotive manufacturing builds on its investments in other sectors, including cement and banking.

Haider Choudrey, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bestway Group, said the company had invested more than $350 million in Pakistan and supported over 20,000 jobs during the previous three years, according to the group.

He said the Geely partnership could create opportunities for local manufacturing, employment, skills development and a stronger automotive supply chain. It could also give Pakistani consumers more vehicle choices and access to international automotive technology.

Preparations are underway at Bestway’s Karachi facility for the next phase of Geely’s operations. However, the companies have not announced a specific local assembly start date in the provided release.

Pakistan Becomes Geely’s First South Asian Market

Evin Ye, Vice President of GAIC and Managing Director of Geely Auto ASEAN, said Pakistan was Geely’s first market in South Asia. He highlighted the country’s potential and described Bestway as a partner with local market knowledge and a shared focus on customer service.

He said the companies intended to build a long-term relationship, strengthen customer support and offer safe, intelligent and high-quality mobility options to Pakistani families.

Geely’s global brand philosophy, “See the World in Full”, centres on mobility, technology and design. Through its partnership with Bestway, the automaker aims to establish its presence in Pakistan while contributing to the development of the country’s automotive sector.

The success of the launch will depend in part on vehicle pricing, customer support, the pace of local assembly and how the new models compete in Pakistan’s evolving electric and hybrid vehicle market.
