SBP Launches SMEConnect to Simplify Business Loan Applications

SBP Launches SMEConnect to Simplify Business Loan Applications

The digital platform will centralise SME financing applications, provide real-time tracking and show reasons for rejected applications from November 1, 2026.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched SMEConnect, a centralised digital platform designed to make financing more accessible to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

The platform, available at https://smeconnect.sbp.org.pk, will provide a single online channel for SMEs to apply for financing from banks and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs). It aims to simplify the application process while improving efficiency and transparency.

Through SMEConnect, applicants will also be able to track the status of their financing applications in real time. If a bank or DFI rejects an application, the applicant will be able to view the reasons for the decision.

The platform will also give the SBP a clearer picture of SME financing activity across the banking sector. Its live dashboard will display real-time data on applications received, processed, approved, disbursed and rejected. The information will be available at both individual bank or DFI level and across the industry.

From November 1, 2026, all SME financing applications will be received exclusively through SMEConnect. SMEs visiting bank branches or using bank and DFI websites to apply for financing will be directed to the central platform.

The SBP has advised banks and DFIs to display the SMEConnect link prominently on their websites. It has also asked financial institutions to ensure their SME teams and field staff understand the platform and can guide applicants through the process.

To help businesses use the service, a tutorial video is available on the SMEConnect portal.

The launch is part of the SBP’s efforts to promote financial inclusion, support entrepreneurship and strengthen the SME financing ecosystem. By centralising applications and improving access to information, the platform is intended to make it easier for businesses to navigate the financing process.
