Ufone 5G Wins Gold and Black Dragons at Asia Marketing Awards

Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), through its brand Ufone 5G, has won two awards at the Dragons of Asia Awards 2026. The company secured a Gold Dragon in the Best in Media category for its ‘Super 5’ campaign and a Black Dragon in the Marketing Discipline category for ‘Babar Azam’s Lost Phone’.

Ufone was the only Pakistani telecom brand to win a Gold Dragon at the awards, highlighting the growing international recognition of Pakistan’s marketing and creative industry.

Super 5 Campaign Secures Gold Dragon

The Gold-winning Super 5 campaign promoted Ufone’s package, which allows customers to share data, calls and SMS with four friends or family members.

The campaign featured comedian and television host Tabish Hashmi alongside former Pakistan cricket stars Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Razzaq and Saeed Ajmal. All four cricketers were members of Pakistan’s squad that won the 2009 ICC T20 World Cup.

Launched in February 2026, the campaign generated curiosity through teaser videos on social media. The former cricketers hinted at a mysterious selection, prompting fans to speculate about a possible return to the game.

The campaign later revealed a humorous twist. Instead of competing for a place in a cricket team, the players were trying to secure a spot in Tabish Hashmi’s Super 5 group.

The campaign ran across Pakistani television channels and digital platforms. It also attracted coverage from digital media outlets and generated millions of online views.

Babar Azam Campaign Wins Black Dragon

Ufone also received a Black Dragon in the Marketing Discipline category for its ‘Babar Azam’s Lost Phone’ campaign, which promoted the company’s Weekly Grand Offer.

Launched in February 2025, the campaign began when Pakistan cricket star Babar Azam announced on social media that he had lost his phone and contacts. The announcement sparked interest among fans before Ufone revealed the promotional campaign.

The story showed Babar searching for his phone alongside fans before introducing the Weekly Grand Offer. The campaign quickly gained popularity, attracted international interest and recorded more than 10 million views.

Both campaigns encouraged organic conversations on social media, as audiences shared reactions, speculated about the stories and helped expand their reach.

PTML Credits Creative Strategy and Teamwork

Commenting on the achievement, Syed Atif Raza, Chief Commercial Officer at PTML, said the company wanted to create campaigns that people would discuss rather than simply watch.

He said Ufone’s approach focuses on understanding consumer behaviour, challenging conventional thinking and developing ideas that stand out. He added that the recognition at the Dragons of Asia Awards was a proud moment for the company and demonstrated that locally developed campaigns could earn international recognition.

Raza also acknowledged the contributions of the company’s Brands and Media teams and its agency partners, whose strategic planning, creativity and execution helped bring the campaigns to life.

Ufone Strengthens Its Marketing Presence

The double win reflects Ufone’s focus on combining creativity with effective marketing. By using humour, familiar personalities and consumer insights, the campaigns turned telecom offers into engaging stories that audiences chose to watch and share.

The recognition also highlights the potential of Pakistan-developed marketing campaigns to attract attention beyond the domestic market.
