Karachi, August 30, 2019: A meeting was held in TDAP with Mango Growers of Sindh on 29th August 2019 under the chairmanship of Director General (RD-South) Mr. Azhar Ali Dahar. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the issues faced by growers of Mangoes of Sindh and to inform them about the steps to be taken to increase exports of Mangoes from Pakistan.
During the meeting DG, TDAP welcomed the delegates and briefed them about the Mango Diplomacy arranged by TDAP for promotion of Pakistani Mangoes in foreign market. He requested the growers to collaborate with TDAP in this activity in future.
The growers were briefed on registration of Trade body for Mango growers and exporters. In 2018-19 most of the Mango shipment couldn’t loaded due to high temperature in Sindh, therefore, TDAP has sought proposal on establishment of chiller/cold storage facility for mango exporters at Karachi.
It was planned to organize Mango festival at Karachi in 2020 where local as well as foreign buyers will be invited.
DG (TDAP) informed that soon ITC GRASP program is to be implemented in Sindh and Balochistan, therefore, growers were asked to submit their proposal for intervention.
Growers showed interest in acquiring VHT plant imported by TDAP from Japan. DG, TDAP encouraged them to submit detailed feasibility report to TDAP in this regard. The meeting ended with a note of thanks by growers who praised DG for providing such a valuable opportunity to growers.
