Karachi, December 02, 2019: Fine Batting by Skipper Fawad Ijaz Khan and Ashraf Pakhali helped Omar Associates Super Veterans (Over 60) Team beat Naya Nazimabad Super Veterans Team by 103 runs in the opening match of First Super Veterans T/20 Cricket Tournament played at the Naya Nazimabad Stadium.
Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association in association with Sindh Seniors Welfare Cricket Association has organized First ever Cricket Tournament played in Asia comprising players of Over 60 years age. The Tournament is played by four Teams Omar Associates, Naya Nazimabad, Hush Puppies and Airport Gymkhana.
Omar Associates Skipper Fawad won the Toss and elected to Bat. Omar Associates scored a massive score of 206 runs for loss of only 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Opener Fawad Ijaz Khan and Haji Ashraf scored opening partnership of 120 runs. Skipper Fawad Ijaz Khan scored 61 runs in 53 Balls with 2 fours and Haji Ashraf scored 37 runs. In the later part of innings Ashraf Pakhali scored a hurricane unbeaten 62 runs in only 26 balls with 4 massive sixes and 5 fours.
Batting second Naya Nazimabad could only score 103 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Hanif ST scored 37 n.o. and Skipper Arif Habib scored 20 runs. Tahir Rasheed, Ali Asghar, Anwar Baba and former Test Player Ejaz Faquih took one wicket each for 8, 8, 9 and 21 runs respectively.
Ashraf Pakhali for his brilliant batting was named Player of the Match.
The Over 60 Tournament organized by PVCA is for the preparation of Pakistan Team in the inaugural Over 60 World Cup to be held in Brisbane, Australia in October 2020.
