APRA appeals Sindh CM allow restaurant to open 24 hours

Karachi, August 11, 2020: All Pakistan Restaurant Association (APRA), greets to open restaurants across the province till 10pm by Sindh government, but declaring the duration of opening of restaurants as insufficient and appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to allow 24-hour opening of restaurants, table service & take away in Sindh as well as across the country.

In an appeal, APRA convener Athar Chawla said that as per the notification issued by the Sindh government, all the restaurants in the province would remain open till 10 pm. There will also be table service and restaurant orders can be placed until 9pm, while restaurants can be open until 11pm on Saturday nights and food can be served 6 days a week until 10pm and food can be taken away up to 11pm on Saturdays. All restaurants will have to comply with the Corona precautions and keep a distance of 3 feet between customers.

“Restaurants are already strictly following the SOPs for the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic. However, unlike other provinces, the Sindh government allowed to open restaurants for a limited period of time instead of 24 hours, i.e. till 10 pm, has caused a wave of concern among restaurant owners”, he added.

Chawla pointed out that due to long lockdown for prevention of coronavirus, the restaurant industry is on the verge of collapse and there are fears that billions of rupees of investment will sink.

Athar Chawla appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah that the Sindh government should reconsider its decision to save the restaurant industry from serious financial losses and allow the restaurant to open 24 hours.
