Hyderabad, India, October 10, 2023: In the eighth match of the ICC World Cup 2023, Pakistan successfully chased the highest-ever total given by Sri Lanka for the loss of four wickets in 48.1 overs.

Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, was awarded man of the match for his brilliant century against Sri Lanka in the eighth match of the ICC World Cup 2023, which was played in Hyderabad, India.

At the beginning of the run chase, the Pakistani top order collapsed after which Abdullah Shafique – who replaced Fakhar Zaman – developed a 176-run partnership with Mohammad Rizwan and changed the fortunes of the Pakistani side.

Muhammad Rizwan played an outstanding innings of 131 runs, while Abdullah Shafique also played a fantastic knock under pressure of 113 runs before he was dismissed.

The middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel scored 31 runs before getting out, opener Imam-ul-Haq made 12 runs, and captain Babar Azam scored 10 runs before his departure, meanwhile, Iftekhar Ahmed contributed with a quick 22 runs.

Pakistan’s successful chase of 345 runs against any team is the highest run chase ever in the history of ICC Men’s World Cup, while Sri Lanka also scored more than 300 runs for the first time against Pakistan in the ICC 50 overs mega event.
