KARACHI: Aamir Nawaz, in charge of Cybercrime Wing Karachi, has been given the charge of acting Additional Director Cybercrime Wing Karachi.

Additional Director Shehzad Haider will resume his duties in the same position after returning from the management course on January 27, 2024.

According to the notification issued by Deputy Director HRM Rizwan Ahmed with the approval of DG FIA Mohsin Butt, Grade 18 officer Aamir Nawaz has been appointed Additional Director FIA Cybercrime as Acting In-charge. Currently, Aamir Nawaz is serving as in charge of the Cybercrime wing in Karachi.

According to this notification, Additional Director Cyber Crime Wing Karachi Shahzad Haider will resume his charge after returning from 34 Common Course.

It should be noted that on October 19, DGFIA informed the Ministry of Interior through a notification that the post of Additional Director FIA Cyber Crime Wing Karachi has been withdrawn from Shehzad Haider due to a management course, and after completion of the course, he will report to FIA HQ.

However, despite the issuance of official notification, Shahzad Haider was working as Additional Director Cybercrime FIA Karachi and had been handling office affairs till November 2, 2023. After taking management course classes at NEPA Karachi, he attended the office at Cyber Crime Wing Karachi. Even, he was calling the FIA officers for approval of important documents and signatures on files after 5:30 p.m.

It should be noted that as per the rules, officers nominated for the Common Course have to relinquish their post and FIA has had a tradition in the past that no officer, who attends the Management Course, is reinstated unless do not report to the Head Quarter and through new notification the officer has been appointed to the new post.

It should be noted that former Director of South Zone Cyber Crime Wing Asim QaimKhani had requested DGFIA to initiate an inquiry against Additional Director Shehzad Haider on the issue of using case property, but due to unknown reasons, this inquiry was rejected by DG FIA.

A number of questions are also being raised about the performance of the officers in the Cyber Crime Wing Karachi as there are some 12,000 applications in Cyber Crime during a year that have not been addressed.

While in 85 cases the investigating officers have not been able to submit the challan in the courts despite the expiry of the period.

In addition, there are 5,000 such inquiries on which a decision has not yet been made whether to convert these inquiries into cases or to close the inquiries.
