Car sales decline in Pakistan

Islamabad, November 22, 2023 : Car sales in the initial four months of the current financial year 2023-24 have fallen by 47.4% compared to the corresponding period last year, according to recent data from the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).

The data indicates a significant decrease in car sales, with 20,871 units sold during the reviewed months compared to 39,700 units in the same period last year. Breakdown figures reveal a notable decline in sales for Honda Civic and City, with 2,239 units sold in July-October 2023-24 compared to 6,416 units in the corresponding period of 2022-23.

Similarly, Toyota Corolla and Yaris sales dropped by 51%, decreasing from 8,253 units to 4,032 units compared to the previous year.

Suzuki Swift experienced a 55% decline in sales, dropping to 1,576 units from 3,466 units last year. Suzuki Cultus sales fell to 1,142 units in the first four months of the current year, compared to 2,952 units during the same period last year.

Suzuki WagonR sales also decreased to 1,160 units from 2,181 units last year. Suzuki Alto’s sales witnessed a sharp 30% decline from 13,464 units to 9,362 units in the current year, while Suzuki Bolan sales decreased to 684 units from 1,469 units in the same month last year.
