Karachi’s Arshi Shopping Mall inferno death toll rises to five

Karachi, December 07, 2023 : The death toll in the Karachi Arshi Shopping Mall inferno has risen to five, with rescue teams discovering an additional body during clearance operations.

In Ayesha Manzil, Karachi, a fire broke out in foam shops on Wednesday evening, spreading rapidly to residential flats. The body recovered from the shopping mall’s first floor was transferred to the Burns Ward at Civil Hospital.

After hours of effort, rescue workers successfully extinguished the fire. Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab stated that authorities would assess the losses once the fire brigade officials conclude their evaluation.

Officials from Rescue 1122 have issued a warning that the affected building is at risk of collapsing at any moment, urging people to steer clear of the premises for their safety.

The safe evacuation of 300 individuals from the affected building has been confirmed by Rescue 1122, and fortunately, there have been no reported damages to nearby structures.
