Karachi, May 12, 2024 : Next month, the European Air Safety Committee is expected to approve the renewal of PIA and Vision Air flights’ Third Country Operators’ Permits.
In a recent update, the European Commission and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have referred the decision regarding the flight ban of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Europe to the European Air Safety Committee.
The European Air Safety Committee is slated to convene between May 14 and 16 in Brussels.
European Commission spokesperson Deborah Almerge highlighted that there are no restrictions on other Pakistani airlines operating in European countries. She clarified that the ban on PIA and Air Vision wasn’t due to their inclusion in the European Air Safety List, but rather due to safety concerns related to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority.
The European Commission stated that safety measures implemented by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority are under review by the Review Board this month.
It’s worth noting that following the pilots’ license scandal, the European Aviation Agency imposed a ban on all Pakistani airlines in July 2020.
