Karachi, August 09, 2024: A suspect has been arrested for allegedly desecrating graves and sexually abusing the bodies of deceased women in Karachi cemeteries.
According to police, the suspect confessed to desecrating four graves and committing acts of sexual abuse on the exhumed bodies.
The arrest took place at Bagh Korangi Cemetery, where the suspect revealed a disturbing pattern of targeting fresh graves of women, exhuming their bodies, and subjecting them to sexual abuse.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect had previously been caught by locals at a graveyard in Korangi No. 01 in 2016. A case has been registered at Awami Colony Police Station, and further investigations are ongoing.
In a separate incident reported on June 22 in Lahore, a three-month-old child’s body went missing from a grave just hours after burial at Miani Sahib Graveyard. The child’s father, Abdul Rahman, discovered the grave empty the next day, with the shroud found nearby.
Police arrested three individuals, including a security guard, in connection with the crime. An FIR was registered, noting that the incident occurred on April 23 of this year.
