Spanish Senators Visit Pakistan: Opportunities for B2B Collaboration Discussed

Islamabad, November 15 2024: A delegation from the Senate Affairs Committee of Spain, led by prominent senators, met with Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization, and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan to explore avenues for bilateral cooperation and investment between Pakistan and Spain.

The delegation included Spanish Senators H.E. Vicente Azpitarte Perez, H.E. Natalia Ucero, H.E. Antonio Gutierrez Limones, and Mr. Luis de la Pena. The meeting focused on fostering mutual trade, enhancing investment prospects, and sharing insights on governance and infrastructure development.

Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that Pakistan offers unparalleled investment opportunities with high-profit margins, making it a lucrative market for international investors. He highlighted the country’s potential as a hub for diverse business activities and stressed the need for efficient resource utilization and strategic management to unlock further economic growth.

The Minister called for robust Business-to-Business (B2B) engagements between companies from both nations, particularly in sectors where Pakistan has unique strengths, such as textiles, agriculture, and engineering. He urged the Spanish Ambassador to provide a list of Spanish companies interested in exploring business opportunities in Pakistan.

Abdul Aleem Khan assured comprehensive support for foreign investors, promising a conducive environment to facilitate seamless business operations. He stated, “We need to foster mutual trade and open new avenues for collaboration between Pakistan and Spain. By understanding each other’s business requirements, we can create valuable partnerships and enhance joint economic activities.”

Spanish Senators expressed enthusiasm about expanding bilateral cooperation in infrastructure sectors, including engineering, highways, and bridge construction. They also noted the potential for growth in the export of Pakistani products like rice, cotton, and mangoes to Spain.

Discussions extended to cultural and institutional insights, including the electoral process of the Spanish Senate. Both sides agreed on the importance of leveraging each other’s expertise to bolster mutual growth.

The Spanish delegation also highlighted the upcoming Expo Event next month as a platform to further explore collaborative opportunities.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing optimism about strengthening ties. Spanish Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Jose A. De Ory, and Pakistani Ambassador to Spain, Zahoor Ahmed, reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing trade and investment relations between the two nations.

The Spanish delegation described their visit as a memorable experience, reflecting the shared goodwill and potential for long-term collaboration.
