The national flag carrier had previously incurred significant financial losses during a days-long suspension of local fuel supply in October, as the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) refused to continue supplies due to outstanding dues.
In October, Pakistan International Airlines incurred a ‘loss’ of Rs10 billion as a result of the fuel crisis, leading to the suspension of over 800 flights.
The Secretary General of the Pakistan International Airlines Senior Staff Association, Safdar Anjum, attributed the substantial loss to the already struggling government entity to the current management of the national flag carrier.
He called for the dismissal of the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Director of Engineering at PIA in response to the fuel crisis that resulted in a Rs10 billion loss.
In November, flight operations returned to normalcy following an agreement between Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
