Islamabad, January 29, 2024 : Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Jameel Ahmed said on Monday that SBP has in principle decided to launch a new series of bank notes in line with global trends.
He said that the new bank notes will be enhanced with new security features and new designs. The process will involve obtaining board approval first, followed by cabinet approval. Commenting on a question regarding issuance of new currency notes, the SBP governor highlighted that they are in the process of issuance of fresh notes with new serial numbers and security features.
The new notes will be printed under International Security Futures.
The new notes will be introduced with different colors, serial numbers, designs and high security futures.
The design framework for all the new notes has started and is expected to be completed by March
Unlike India, Pakistan will not change the currency suddenly.
This decision has been taken in view of the complaints of fake notes across the country.
