Driven by a desire for a male offspring, a man and his mother in Chichawatni, Punjab, killed his newborn daughter.
Police reported that the man had married a woman from Okara about 18 months ago and they welcomed a baby girl on July 8.
However, both the father and his mother (grandmother) were displeased with the birth of the baby girl. They allegedly took the newborn from the mother and reportedly killed her.
Authorities have registered a case against the suspects, who are currently evading arrest. Police are conducting raids to apprehend them.
In a separate incident earlier, a heartless man in Mianwali district of Punjab shot and killed his seven-day-old daughter. Reports indicate that Shahzeb killed the infant because his first child was a daughter instead of a son.
Images shared by users depicted the tragic scene of the infant, who was just seven days old, after being fatally shot five times by her own father.
