Karachi, July 18, 2024: A leading Chinese bus manufacturer has decided to establish a plant for producing intra-city electric buses in Karachi.
The CEO of Yutong Middle East, along with other officials, met with Sindh’s transport minister, Sharjeel Memon, today.
“The work for the Yutong bus-making plant’s installation will start within three months,” the provincial minister said to the media.
“The installation of the bus manufacturing plant will be completed by next year,” Sharjeel Memon informed the media.
“Yutong’s intra-city and electric buses will now be manufactured in Karachi,” he stated. “The plant will assemble both electric and hybrid diesel buses,” the Sindh minister added.
He mentioned that the installation of the bus plant will boost industries and create new job opportunities.
“The production of buses in Karachi will help save foreign exchange, and exporting the buses will also benefit Pakistan,” he added.
