Karachi, August 07, 2024: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced that the distribution of free solar panels will commence by August.

During a meeting on the free solar supply project, Shah directed officials to expedite measures to ensure the panels reach needy individuals by the end of the month.

“We will begin distributing solar panels in each division and district soon,” he stated.

Shah emphasized that the Sindh government aims to provide relief through affordable electricity. “The solarization process is a means of offering cost-effective electricity to the people,” he said. He highlighted the burden of expensive electricity on the population, noting the widespread suffering due to high electricity bills.

On the directives of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Shah stressed the importance of ensuring the project’s transparency. He assured that people across Sindh would benefit from alternative energy sources.

Earlier, on August 3, Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori announced the provision of free solar panels to residents using up to 300 units of electricity. Governor Tesori revealed that 9,000 solar panels had been ordered for the project’s first phase.

These panels will be distributed at no cost, allowing recipients to use up to 300 units of electricity via solar power. The installation and supply of the panels will also be free, aiming to alleviate the burden of load shedding for many households.
