JS Bank Profit After Tax Rises 67% to Rs4.3 Billion in 9M 2026
The bank’s pre-tax profit increased 58%, while deposits grew 10% and total assets reached Rs733.7 billion.
JS Bank Limited (PSX: JSBL) reported a 67% year-on-year increase in profit after tax to Rs4.300 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs2.569 billion in the same period last year.
The bank’s profit before tax also increased by 58% to Rs8.932 billion from Rs5.665 billion. Meanwhile, earnings per share (EPS) rose to Rs2.10 from Rs1.25, reflecting improved profitability during the reporting period.
JS Bank continued to strengthen its balance sheet, with total assets increasing by 12% to Rs733.719 billion as of September 30, 2026, compared with Rs655.636 billion at the end of December 2025.
Total deposits rose 10% to Rs598.123 billion from Rs543.502 billion over the same period. The bank also improved its deposit mix, increasing the share of non-remunerative deposits to 43.35% from 40.87%. These deposits help banks manage funding costs because they do not carry the usual profit or interest expense paid on remunerative deposits.
The bank’s operating performance also benefited from growth in fee-based revenue and cost controls. Fee income increased by 4.34% to Rs3.828 billion, while non-markup expenses rose by 3.3% to Rs23.152 billion.
Another factor supporting reported profitability was a change in credit loss allowances. JS Bank recorded a net reversal of Rs1.733 billion during the nine-month period, compared with a net charge of Rs3.182 billion in the corresponding period last year. This change contributed to the improvement in its reported earnings.
During the period, JS Bank also completed its sixth Tier-2 Term Finance Certificate issuance, raising Rs4 billion. The issuance added to the bank’s supplementary capital, while its Capital Adequacy Ratio stood at 13.30% as of September 30, 2026.
Commenting on the results, JS Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Basir Shamsie said the performance reflected progress in strengthening the bank’s financial position and growing its core business.
He highlighted deposit growth, a stronger low-cost deposit mix and disciplined cost management as positive developments. Shamsie added that the bank would continue to focus on sustainable growth, improving customer experience and meeting the financing needs of key sectors of Pakistan’s economy.
