Located in Laguna province, the facility has been designed to assemble approximately 12,000 three-wheeled vehicles annually, including electric and internal combustion engine models.
The inauguration marks a significant step in Sazgar’s international expansion strategy as the Pakistani automaker seeks to establish a stronger presence in overseas markets.
Philippine President Attends Plant Inauguration
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. attended the inauguration ceremony and welcomed the investment, saying it reflected the country’s ambition to attract companies that manufacture products locally rather than simply sell them in the domestic market.
“That is the kind of investment that we want, not just companies that sell to the Filipinos but companies that make things with the Filipinos,” Marcos said.

He said the facility would strengthen the Philippines’ manufacturing sector while supporting the country’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
The president also highlighted the potential employment opportunities for Filipino workers and business prospects for local suppliers.
According to Marcos, local businesses involved in battery-related components, rubber, lubricants and other supplies could benefit from the manufacturing operation.
Electric Three-Wheelers to Offer Up to 210km Range
The plant will manufacture both electric and petrol-powered three-wheelers.
Marcos said the electric models were designed to travel between 100 and 210 kilometres on a single charge. This range could allow drivers to complete a full day of trips without needing petrol, depending on usage and operating conditions.
The facility is expected to contribute to the availability of locally assembled vehicles and support the Philippines’ efforts to develop cleaner transport options.
Sazgar Engineering’s Manufacturing Background
Sazgar Engineering Works Limited was established in Pakistan as a private limited company in 1991 and became a public limited company in 1994.
The company’s main business activities include manufacturing and selling automobiles, automotive parts and accessories, as well as household electronic appliances.
Headquartered in Pakistan, Sazgar is recognised as one of the country’s major three-wheeler manufacturers, with production facilities in Lahore.
Its product portfolio includes auto rickshaws, tractor wheel rims and household appliances.
Pakistani Automaker Expands International Exports
Sazgar has been exporting three-wheelers to several international markets as part of its efforts to diversify revenue and expand its overseas customer base.
The company has previously exported vehicles to countries and markets including Japan, Ethiopia, Qatar, Dubai, Mauritania and Afghanistan.
In 2024, its export destinations included Japan, Liberia, Tanzania and Afghanistan.
In September 2025, Sazgar announced plans to expand into additional international markets, specifically targeting the Philippines, Mexico and Afghanistan.
The inauguration of the Laguna manufacturing facility represents progress in that strategy and gives the Pakistani company a manufacturing presence in Southeast Asia.
The development also highlights the potential for Pakistani automotive manufacturers to expand beyond domestic markets through international partnerships and overseas production facilities.
