Spotify Launches Audiobooks in Pakistan with Monthly Subscription at Rs489
The new Audiobooks+ service offers 15 listening hours per month, access to more than 100,000 English-language titles and additional listening hours through paid top-ups.
Spotify has launched its audiobooks service in Pakistan, giving users access to a global catalogue of spoken-word titles alongside music and podcasts on the platform.
Starting November 4, both Free and Premium users in Pakistan can subscribe to Audiobooks+, a monthly add-on that provides 15 hours of audiobook listening for Rs489.
Users who need more listening time can purchase an additional 10 hours for Rs579. Spotify will also allow listeners to buy individual audiobooks without taking out a monthly subscription.
The 15-hour allowance resets with each billing cycle. Only time spent actively listening counts towards the monthly limit.
More Than 100,000 Audiobooks Available
Audiobooks+ subscribers in Pakistan will be able to explore more than 100,000 titles from Spotify’s global English-language catalogue.
The service also introduces a dedicated Audiobooks tab in the app. Users can browse, search and discover books through this section.
Spotify has included several features to make listening easier. These include automatic bookmarking, a sleep timer and offline downloads.
Another feature, Page Match, allows readers to move between a printed book or e-book and its audiobook version while keeping track of their reading progress.
The platform also saves listening progress across more than 2,000 supported devices. This allows users to start listening on a phone and continue on another compatible device.
How to Subscribe to Spotify Audiobooks+
Users can access the service by updating their Spotify app to the latest version and opening the Audiobooks hub or searching for a specific title.
They can then select a book and add the Audiobooks+ subscription. Users can manage their subscription through Spotify Account, while further information is available on the Spotify support page.
Spotify Expands Audiobooks to More Markets
The Pakistan launch is part of Spotify’s wider international expansion of its audiobooks service, announced at the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 7.
The company plans to make audiobooks available in more than 180 markets by the end of 2026, potentially reaching over 780 million people with options to stream or purchase titles.
Owen Smith, Spotify’s Vice President of Audiobooks, said the expansion would help more people discover books through everyday activities such as commuting, walking and relaxing at home. He also said the wider reach would create new opportunities for authors and publishers to connect with readers.
Spotify introduced audiobooks in its Premium offering three years ago. According to the company, monthly audiobook listeners grew nearly 40% over the past year, while listening hours increased by more than 30%.
The company also said its Audiobooks+ service has attracted more than one million subscribers since launching just over a year ago.
With its entry into Pakistan, Spotify is adding another option for local listeners interested in books, learning and storytelling through digital audio.
