Karachi, April 4, 2019: After the discontinuation of Suzuki Mehran 800cc, Pak Suzuki to launch a locally assembled some 660cc Suzuki Alto car very soon, industry sources said.
The production of new Suzuki Alto is expected to start form this month as Pak Suzuki has discontinued Suzuki Mehran with effect from April 4, 2019. The launching of new Suzuki Alto is expected to be in May or June 2019.
With improved featured, the expected price may be one million rupees.
After some thirty years, Pak Suzuki has discontinued Suzuki Mehran with effect from April 4, 2019. The discontinuation of Suzuki Mehran was announced by the Company in September last year
Suzuki Mehran, launched some 30 years back in Pakistan’s market, was one of the top selling because of low price and good features. The car has high-quality products, low rate, and the spare parts are also available in a high range. The experience of the people in the car is high yet it is most demanding for that purpose.
As the company was facing severe competitive pressure in the market, it may bring some reasonable change to stay relevant in the coming years, however still the company has not announce any new car in this category.
Sukuzi Company began production of Mehran in1988 as the “Alto”, but renamed to Mehran in 1992. It received minor facelifts in 1998 and again in 2004. Mehran is currently available in VX or VXR equipment levels. It had again received a mild facelift with an asymmetric grille at the same time with the introduction of the EFi engine.
Current modal of Suzuki Mehran was belonging to the 2nd generation which was introduced in 2012. The 2nd generation of Suzuki Mehran featured a series of minor cosmetic upgrades and an engine upgrade that made it Euro II compliant.
The remaining aspects of the Mehran are identical to the 1st generation. However, the entire variant will now come with an Immobilizer. The Suzuki Mehran comes in 2 variants Mehran VX, and VXR.
However, just before discontinuation of Suzuki Mehran its prices were increased by the company by Rs Rs 10,000 to 20,000 with effect from April 1, 2018.
As per new price announced by the company, Mehran VX and Mehran VXR was being sold at Rs 799,000 and Rs 880,000 respectively.
The Company also raised the price of Wagnor XR and Wagnor VXL by Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 to Rs 1.264 million and Rs 1.344 million respectively.
Cultus VXR and VXL prices surged to Rs 1.44 million and Rs 1.551 million respectively, while Bolan and Cargo prices reached Rs 874,000 and Rs 840,000 level. Prices of all other cars have also increased by the company.
