Karachi, February 15, 2019: Rafique Suleman former Chairman Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) has been appointed as the Convener of FPCCI Central Committee on Rice (2019).
He has already served as Chairman FPCCI Committee on Rice Exports during the year 2015 & 2016. Additionally, Mr. Muzammil Chappal & Mr. Faisal Anis have been appointed as Deputy Conveners in this Committee.
Rafique Suleman has served as Chairman as well as Senior Vice Chairman & Treasurer of REAP and belongs to a business family and among the leading rice exporter since last many years.
He thanked leader of Business Community S.M. Muneer and Abdul Rahim Janoo for putting their confidence on him for this very important position.
He said that currently rice export trade is facing many local and international challenges. It is the need of time to increase our rice crop, as our rice crop is stagnant and without increasing rice crop we cannot increase our rice exports.
He has suggested that without Backward Integration we cannot achieve our targets. He informed that some REAP members are working towards rice seed and farming and this will give a motivation to other rice farmers as well to adopt latest and modern farming methods and machinery to get better yield of our rice and reduce the crop losses during harvest and Post harvest season.
Rafiue further undertakes that with the support of his Committee Members he will take necessary steps to explore new markets for Pakistani rice as well as to increase the share of our rice in some countries, where Pakistani rice has shown alarming decline during last several years. He was hopeful that we will be able to cope with the challenges being face by rice export trade of Pakistan and make this trade to new heights during his tenure.
