Vietnamese delegation visits FPCCI

Karachi, December 18, 2019: A Seventeen member business delegation of Vietnam visited FPCCI and held a meeting with Office Bearers of FPCCI and Members of Pakistan Vietnam Business Councils of FPCCI at Federation House Karachi. The delegation comprises the businessmen from cereals, herbal, food, sea food, beverages, tea, animal feed, macadamia etc.

While welcoming the delegation, Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) stated that Pakistan and Vietnam enjoy amicable political and diplomatic relations since 1972 and both are member of WTO and CACCI. With the passage of time, the relations between both nations are expanding but still there are potentials for enhancement of trade between both nations. While commenting of trade, he stated that the bilateral trade between two countries is US$ 633 million and in the favor of Vietnam but it is still very low as compared to the potential available.

The President FPCCI added that there are huge potential of trade between both nations in textile, mechanical appliances, plastics, minerals, mineral oils, optical, photographic, cinematographic, surgical instruments, fish and other seafood by products. He stated that proactive and cooperative role of Pakistani missions could play significant role in improving bilateral trade. In order to facilitate business people, Vietnam should activate its Visa offices in commercial cities of Pakistan i.e. Karachi and Lahore. Additionally, the visa processing time must be reduced in order to have smooth and hassle free bilateral trade, he suggested.

In response, the Vietnamese delegations agreed for reducing the trade barriers and holding of commercial activities like formulation of delegation, establishing joint ventures, participation in fair and exhibitions.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ikhtiar Baig, Sr. Vice President FPCCI, Muslim Muhammadi Vice President FPCCI, Ghazanfar Ali Khan and other prominent businessmen of FPCCI.
