Karachi, March 16, 2021: The market witnessed a volatile session today with the KSE 100 Index printing an intra-day high of 144 points and an intra-day low of -221 points to eventually close the day at 44,843 (up 90.47 points or +0.20 percent ).
Investors remained on the sidelines with focus on political noise, high leverage and the Monetary Policy scheduled to be held on Friday, 19th March 2021.
The Technology sector remained in the limelight with TRG & SYS adding ~125 points to the benchmark index. Investor interest was also seen in the Banking sector with HBL, UBL, & MEBL cumulatively adding ~75 points to the index.
On the corporate front, PIOC informed the bourse that the second 12MW turbine of the 24MW Coal Power plant has started power generation after which the stock closed at 130.07 (down 2.33 percent).
Volumes remained on the lower side as investors adopted a general cautious stance. Daily traded volume clocked in at 407.93 million shares (down 10.45 percent DoD) while daily traded value was registered at PKR 19.96 billion (down 9.07 percent DoD) respectively. The volume leader for today was UNITY with 37.24 million shares traded during the session.
