VIRAL, Rahkeem Cornwall, comical run-out, first ball in CPL

In the first match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season, the opening batsman of Barbados Royals’, Rahkeem Cornwall, was run-out on the very first delivery of the innings while chasing a target of 202 against the St. Lucia Kings.

The bowler, Matthew Forde, began with a wide delivery, aiming at Cornwall’s pad, the batsman flicked the ball towards Matthew Sole, fielding at short fine leg.

The fielder fumbled as the ball bounced off his hand. However, he quickly recovered, secured the ball, and executed a precise throw towards the non-striker’s end, where Cornwall was found well outside the crease.

Cornwall’s lack of effort in attempting to return to the crease was evident, drawing criticism from the commentators. Danny Morrison remarked, “Brother, you’ve got to slip it into second gear at least. The concrete shoes and all, but mate, put the hammer down.”

Ultimately, Barbados Royals lost the match by a margin of 54 runs, as they were bowled out for a total of 147.
