Karachi, August 22, 2023: In a distressing incident reported by ARY News on Tuesday, a chairlift carrying schoolchildren in Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, came to a halt after its cable snapped.

According to available information, the chairlift became stranded in Tehsil Alai, Battagram, leaving eight schoolchildren and their teacher suspended in midair for several hours. Regrettably, no immediate rescue efforts had been initiated at the time.

The stranded individuals urgently appealed for assistance while rescue sources identified the need for a helicopter to execute the rescue operation.

Commissioner Battagram swiftly communicated with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Pakistan Army to secure helicopter support. He confirmed that an Army Aviation helicopter was en route to rescue the stranded schoolchildren and their teacher.

In an exclusive telephone conversation with an ARY News representative from the immobilized chairlift, a man named Gulfaraz revealed that seven schoolchildren and another adult were stuck in the chairlift. They had been suspended midair since 7 in the morning, and two of the chairlift’s ropes had already snapped. Their hopeful wait for assistance continued as they sought rescue.
