Mastung, September 29, 2023: As many as 52 people, including police officers, were killed while more than 50 individuals sustained injuries in a ‘suicide blast’ at Rabiul Awwal rally in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Friday.
The health officials confirmed the casualties of at least 52 people while the Station House Officer (SHO) of the city – Muhamad Javed Lehri – claimed that a police officer was also martyred in the blast.
The chief executive of the Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital – Dr Saeed Mirwani – claimed that dozens of the injured individuals are under medical care while more than 20 injured were referred to Quetta for medical assistance.

Attaul Munim – the Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Mastung – stated that the incident took place when people were gathered to observe the Eid-i-Miladun Nabi procession at Alfalah Road.
“The suicide bomber pulled the trigger near the vehicle of the deputy superintendent of police (DSP), resulting in the death of the police official,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Munir Ahmed stated.
As per the Assistant Commissioner of Mastung’s statement, the martyred DSP was identified as Nawaz Gishkori. While the SHO Lehri confirmed the explosion was a “Suicide Blast”.
The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan refused to take responsibility for the attack.
