Cathy Ferguson, the wife of Sir Alex Ferguson has passed away at the at the age of 84, as announced by the family.
The mother of three, dearly described by her husband as his ‘bedrock’ – perished yesterday morning in Cheshire, surrounded by family.
Cathy played a pivotal role in supporting Sir Alex during challenging times, remarkably helping nurse him back to health after he suffered a stroke following his retirement from the club in 2013.
According to the statement on behalf of Ferguson family, stated: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing yesterday of Lady Cathy Ferguson, survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family asks for privacy at this time.”
The couple was married for nearly six decades before her death, with their initial encounter occurring while both were employed at a typewriter factory in Glasgow.
