The seasoned cricketer and former captain of the national cricket team, Shahid Afridi, disclosed his reasons for selecting young fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi as his daughter’s future life partner.
During a recent podcast appearance, Afridi elaborated on his decision to choose Shaheen as a fitting husband for Ansha. He revealed that their families had a long-standing relationship, and they had been in communication about the proposal for a considerable period of time.
Afridi mentioned that although they had lost touch in recent years, his conversations with those who had played with Shaheen at the domestic level were filled with admiration for him. They commended his maturity and his respectful attitude towards others, which played a pivotal role in his decision-making process.
“Being a good human being is more important than being a good cricketer,” he added.
It’s worth mentioning that Pakistan’s primary fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, got engaged to the second eldest daughter of the former captain of the national cricket team, Ansha Shahid, in 2021.
They had a private nikkah ceremony in February of this year. Following a rukhsati ceremony in September, Shaheen brought his wife home.
In the realm of his professional career, the national team’s star fast bowler achieved the title of the best one-day international (ODI) bowler earlier this month, thanks to his remarkable performance in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
He surged to the top of the ICC ODI rankings, securing a seven-point increase, and currently shares the title of the leading wicket-taker with Australian spinner Adam Zampa, each having claimed 16 wickets in the tournament.
