Lahore, December 11, 2023 : Punjab’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) apprehended nine individuals linked to banned outfits on Monday in intelligence-driven operations conducted across different cities in the province.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out 70 intelligence-based operations across multiple cities in Punjab, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals deemed as ‘terrorists,’ according to the spokesperson.
The operations were conducted in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Sialkot, and Hafizabad. Notably, two of the apprehended individuals were identified as significant financiers for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The detained terrorists, namely Abdul Rahman, Abdul Wahid, Azeem, Zaman, Sufiyan, Siddique, and Sajjid Jutt, were found in possession of explosives, two grenades, IED devices, mobile phones, and cash.
According to the CTD spokesman, a total of 47 suspects were arrested in 314 combing operations conducted this week, with 12,893 individuals questioned during these operations.
In the previous month, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) eliminated three individuals linked to a proscribed outfit in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district resulted in the death of three terrorists associated with the banned outfit.
Significant quantities of arms and explosive materials were seized from the terrorists. The CTD team uncovered two sub-machine guns, a pistol, hand grenades, a magnetic improvised explosive device (IED), and rounds during the intelligence-based operation (IBO).
