Pakistan, January 08, 2024 : Persistent dense fog in parts of Pakistan disrupted flight operations on Monday.

Details indicate that 12 flights were canceled in Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to dense fog. PIA’s PK-161 flight from Dubai to Islamabad was canceled, along with flights from Islamabad to Karachi operated by private airlines.

Flights bound for Quetta from Islamabad and Karachi, as well as flights to Sukkur and Multan, were canceled. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted a cold and dry spell for most parts of the country, with hilly areas expected to experience intense cold.

The Meteorological Office states that the current weather pattern will persist in most parts of the country. Upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north-western districts of Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan can expect cloudy and cold conditions.

Heavy fog/smog is expected to envelop the plains of Punjab, Islamabad, Upper Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Meteorological Office.

The possibility of heavy fog is pointed out in districts including Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Peshawar, Lucky Marwat, Bannu, and DIK in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
