According to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC), imports of uncombed single cotton yarn containing 85 percent or more from Pakistan reached over $99.12 million in the first quarter of 2024, compared to $72.70 million in the corresponding period last year. Sajjad Mazahir, General Manager of China Operations at Keywin Trading Ltd, informed China Economic Net (CEN) that the rising demand for Pakistan cotton textiles in China stems from the country’s industry striking a balance between exports and local downstream orders.
He noted that while Pakistan’s textile products were previously primarily sought after for exports, they have now captured a significant market share in China’s domestic market as well.
Presently, Pakistan’s offerings encompass cotton, cotton yarns, and Griege fabric, which are favored by numerous customers for their competitive prices and quality. On May 3, it was reported that Pakistan’s cement exports surged by 45.96% in April 2024 compared to the same month the previous year.
According to data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, cement exports totaled 614,264 tons in April 2024, whereas 420,857 tons were exported in the corresponding month last year. The data further revealed a 65.35% increase in cement exports during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year (2023-24), with 5.715 million tons exported during this period.
