Islamabad, May 27, 2024 : The current government has declared a public holiday on Tuesday, May 28, to commemorate ‘Youm-e-Takbeer’, the historic day when Pakistan became a nuclear power.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that ‘Youm-e-Takbeer’ serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to its defense and sovereignty.
“On this day, we come together under the green and white flag to celebrate our nation’s unwavering resolve,” he added.
He emphasized the importance of May 28, 1998, when Pakistan successfully conducted nuclear tests, solidifying its invincible defense. “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure economic security and prosperity for our nation,” he vowed.
The nuclear tests were carried out in self-defense in response to India’s nuclear tests. Consequently, Pakistan became the first nuclear power in the Muslim world and the seventh in the world.
