Alkhidmat Karachi’s Disaster Management department and Rescue 1122 have jointly initiated a Basic Life Support (BLS) training program for school students with the purpose of teaching them emergency life-saving techniques.
In the first phase, Dar al Arqam School in Orangi and its branches were chosen for the training program. Senior officials from Alkhidmat and Rescue 1122 as well as trainers conducted the program in which students were given awareness about emergencies that may arise and how to tackle them.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Disaster Management Qazi Syed Sadruddin said that the BLS training program was a unique initiative by Alkhidmat under which school children were being trained to face emergencies.
He said that students were being trained in the workshop to provide first aid to people affected by emergencies, as well as the methods to save their own lives and the lives of others. Lastly, he announced that students in the workshop would receive certification in acknowledgement of their participation and enthusiasm for the program.
