Pakistan: Car sales surged by 137.9pc in June

Islamabad, July 14, 2024: According to data released by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA), car sales in Pakistan saw a significant increase of 137.91% in June 2024 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (2022-23).

In June 2024, car sales rose to 10,128 units from 4,257 units sold in June of the previous year.

However, car sales during the fiscal year 2023-24 (July-June) decreased by 15.63% compared to the sales during the same period in the previous year 2022-23.

During the period under review, a total of 81,677 cars were sold, down from 96,811 units sold in the same period last year.

Breakdown figures indicate that sales of Honda Civic and City totaled 11,501 units, compared to 12,823 units in the previous fiscal year (2022-23).

Toyota Corolla and Yaris sales also declined by 13.44%, with 16,305 units sold compared to 18,838 units last year.

Suzuki Swift sales decreased significantly by 40.38%, dropping to 5,567 units from 9,338 units the previous year.

Sales of Suzuki Cultus fell to 3,689 units during the fiscal year under review, down from 6,956 units sold in the same period last year. Similarly, Suzuki WagonR sales decreased to 3,595 units from 5,434 units.

However, Suzuki Alto saw a modest increase of 1.42%, with sales rising from 35,379 units to 35,883 units during the year under review. Conversely, Suzuki Bolan sales declined to 2,774 units from 4,447 units last year.
