Whatsapp learning program

Lahore, July 18, 2024: The School Education Department in Lahore plans to introduce a WhatsApp learning program for teachers and parents in government schools, in collaboration with UNICEF.

Initially, the program will be rolled out in 10 schools across Lahore. It will involve selecting 10 parents and 5 teachers from each school to undergo a 4-week training session aimed at enhancing educational standards in public schools. Schools have been requested to submit lists of interested teachers and parents to participate.

This initiative follows Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s approval of a reorganization program for public schools, focusing on the rehabilitation of government schools throughout the province.

The chief minister has set a target to construct and rehabilitate 1,000 school grounds within six months. She has also instructed the start of weekly and monthly competitions in government schools and called for a comprehensive mapping of school facilities and needs across Punjab.

Additionally, plans are underway to regularize 14,000 Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) and Secondary School Educators (SSEs) in Punjab.

The chief minister has also sanctioned the launch of the Green School Programme, which will involve each student planting at least one sapling, with digital mapping of the plants to be completed.
