Karachi to receive excessive rains in August

Karachi, August 03, 2024: The Met Office has forecast rain with wind and thunderstorms in Karachi and surrounding areas until August 6, due to a strong monsoon wind system from Rajasthan, India, and the Arabian Sea.

According to the weather report, some areas of Karachi could receive medium to heavy rainfall, with the new monsoon spell continuing intermittently. Keamari received the most rain, with 41mm since yesterday.

Various localities in Karachi, including Keamari, Saddar, Mauripur, Lyari, Old City area, Shara-e-Faisal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, and Federal B Area, experienced light to heavy rainfall overnight.

Other districts in Sindh, such as Mithi, Sanghar, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Naushehro Feroz, Badin, Sujawal, Thatta, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkano, Jacobabad, Dadu, and others, are also likely to receive monsoon rains today. Heavy rain has already submerged low-lying areas, roads, and markets in Sukkur.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts that the ongoing rain spell will persist in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir until August 6.
